Ina chomhthéacs i nGníomthartha na nAspal tá an sliocht seo mar chuid den chur síos ar an áit a bhí ag Peadar agus an Eaglais óg in Iarúsailéim le creideamh Chriost a thabhhairt do na pagánaigh gan an timpeallghearradh a bheith riachtanach. Bhí aisling ag Cóirnéilias, taoiseach céad na Róimhe, pagánach cráifeach, á rá leis glaoch ar Pheadar le eolas an tslánaithe a thabhairt dó. Bhí an glaoch bheith ina aspal dona pagánaigh faighte ag Pól cheana féin, ach ní raibh sé i mbun saothair fós. Is dócha gur sampla é de chéad-sheanmóireacht na heaglaise ag craobhscaoileadh theachtaireacht an tsoiscéil di.Thosaigh an cur síos le baiste Eoin Baiste, ungadh Chríost ansin leis an Spiorad Naomh, agus na miorúiltí a rinne sé dá bharr, beatha phoiblí Chríost, agus na hAspail mar fhínnéithe ar sin; céasadh agus bás Chríost agus a aiséirí, agus an fhianaise gur aiséirigh sé dáiríre á thaispeáint féin dá lucht leanúna, agus mar ar ordaigh sé dá dheisceabail an soiscéal a craobhscaoileadh.     rinne ceann an chúinne di.
    Is é an Tiarna a rinne é seo,

 Dara Léacht (Colosaigh 3:1-4). Lorgaígí na nithe atá thuas mar a bhfuil Críost. Roghnaíodh an sliocht seo den litir chuig na Colosaigh toisc go bhfuil sé feiliúnach do Dhomhnach na Cásca, an lá ina bhfuilimid ag ceiliúradh aiséirí Chríost agus a fhilleadh faoi ghlóir go dheaslámh an Athar, áit a bhfuil sé de shíor ag guí ar son na hEaglaise, agus ar ár son go léir le go mbeadh toradh ar a bhás agus a aiséirí. Tá Críostaithe aontaithe le Críost sa bhaisteadh, agus mar adeir an léacht seo aontaithe leis ar neamh. Ní léacht ghinearálta gan téagar atá anseo. Tamall gearr roimhe seo scríobh Pól (Colosaigh 2:6-7): “Mar sin de, ós rud é go bhfuil glactha agaibh le hÍosa mar Thiarna, tugaigí bhúr saol i bpáirt leis. Bígí préamhaithe ann agus bunaithe air agus daingean sa chreideamh faoi mar ar múineadh daoibh é”. Agus ní rud teibí an creideamh seo i gCríost ar dheis Dé. Tá Íosa ann fós ag craobhscaoileadh a shoiscéíl agus ag múineadh conas ár saol a thabhairt as anseo ar talamh, mar a deirtear sna véarsaí a leanann an sliocht seo: toisc go gcreidimid go bhfuilimid in éineacht le Críost ar neamh deirtear linn an “taobh saolta”, na hainmhianta, a bhású. Agus mar shampla ar sin áirítear ceithre chinn de nósanna gnéasacha, agus moltar liosta de shuáilcí le cleactadh. Ionann creideamh i gCríost ar dheis Dé agus conas ár mbeatha sa saol seo a chaitheamh seachas a mhalairt.

AN SOISCÉAL Eoin 20:1-9


An chéad lá den tseachtain tháinig Máire Mhaigdiléana go moch, agus an dorchadas fós ann, chun an tuama agus chonaic sí an líog aistrithe ón tuama. Rith sí ansin agus tháinig sí go dtí Síomón Peadar agus go dtí an deisceabal úd eile ab ionúin le Íosa. “Thog siad an Tiarna as an tuama,” ar sí leo, “agus níl a fhios againn cár chuir siad é.”


Amach le Peadar agus leis an deisceabal eile ansin agus chuaigh siad chun an tuama. Chrom siad a mbeirt ar rith in éineacht agus rith an deisceabal eile níos luaithe ná Peadar agus is é is túisce a tháinig go dtí an tuama. Nuair a chrom sé síos chonaic sé na línéadaí ina luí ansiúd, ach ní dheachaigh sé isteach. Ansin tháinig Síomón Peadar ina dhiaidh agus chuaigh sé isteach sa tuama, agus chonaic sé na línéadaí agus an brat a bhí ar a cheann – ní i dteannta na línéadaí a bhí sé, ach fillte in aon áit amháin leis féin. Ansin. an deisceabal eile, a tháinig ar dtús chun an tuama, chuaigh sé isteach agus chonaic agus chreid sé. Óir níor thuig siad go fóill an scrioptúr nárbh fholáir é a aiséirí ó mhairbh.

'We have eaten and drunk with him after his resurrection'


Peter addressed Cornelius and his household: ‘You must have heard about the recent happenings in Judaea; about Jesus of Nazareth and how he began in Galilee, after John had been preaching baptism. God had anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and because God was with him, Jesus went about doing good and curing all who had fallen into the power of the devil. Now I, and those with me, can witness to everything he did throughout the countryside of Judaea and in Jerusalem itself: and also to the fact that they killed him by hanging him on a tree, yet three days afterwards God raised him to life and allowed him to be seen, not by the whole people but only by certain witnesses God had chosen beforehand. Now we are those witnesses – we have eaten and drunk with him after his resurrection from the dead – and he has ordered us to proclaim this to his people and to tell them that God has appointed him to judge everyone, alive or dead. It is to him that all the prophets bear this witness: that all who believe in Jesus will have their sins forgiven through his name.’

Colossians 3:1-4 ©

Look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is


Since you have been brought back to true life with Christ, you must look for the things that are in heaven, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand. Let your thoughts be on heavenly things, not on the things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed – and he is your life – you too will be revealed in all your glory with him.

Gospel John 20:1-9 ©

He must rise from the dead


It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb’ she said ‘and we don’t know where they have put him.’

  So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed. Till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
