An Ceathrú Domhnach den Cháisc – 3ú Bealtaine 2020


Domhnach na nGairmeacha (Vocation Sunday) -ó Chuil Aodha


Céad Léacht (Gníomhartha na nAspal 2:14, 36-41). Rinne Dia Tiarna agus Críost de. Sa léacht seo tá Peadar ag caint leis an bpobal in Iarúsailéim tar éis tuirlingt an Spioraid Naoimh. Sa ráiteas tosaigh tá achoimre cruinn ar chreideamh na luath-eaglaise faoi Íosa: San aiseirí rinne Dia Tiarna agus Críost den Íosa a chuir na Giúdaigh chun báis. Lár-alt creidimh é gur ardaigh Dia Íosa ag an aiséirí agus gur bhronn sé air an t-ainm atá os cionn gach ainm, agus go ndearbhódh gach teanga gurbh é Íosa Críost an Tiarna (Filipigh 2:9-11). Ionann an t-ainm Tiarna anseo, idir fhírinní eile, agus a rá go bhfuil Íosa ag deasláimh an Athar, agus go bhfuair sé an Spiorad a bhí geallta, an Spiorad a dhoirt sé  lá sin na Cincíse, mar a mheabhraigh Peadar féin pas beag níos luaithe sa seanmóir seo  chomh maith. Thar cheann na nAspal d’admhaigh Peadar gurb é an Meisias (an Críost) é Íosa lena bheatha ar talamh, agus níor shéan Íosa gurb ea. Ag a thriail chuir an tArdsagart ceist ar Íosa arb é an Críost (an Meisias) é. Aris, níor shéan Íosa gurb ea. Lena shaol ar talamh ba é an meisias (an Críost) Íosa le na gealltanais d’Iosrael a chomhlíonadh. Ag a aiséirí rinne Dia Críost de Íosa i modh faoi leith,  lena raibh sna gealltanais sin a thabhairt chun críche. Nuair adeir Peadar leis an lucht éisteachta aithrí a dhéanamh, ní aithrí i bpeacaí pearsanta atá i gceist aige go bunúsach ach athrú meoin go creideamh in Íosa agus a leanann as, le baisteadh a ghlacadh a thabharfadh isteach iad sa phobal nua ina mbeidh Íosa mar Thiarna agus bronntanas an Spioraid acu. Roimh seo bhíodar tiomanta do Mhaois tríd an dli. Beidh siad anois tiomanta do Íosa trí bhaisteadh in ajnm Íosa (níos déanaí beidh sé in ainm na Trionóide). Tugtar “drochghlúin” ar ghlúin sin na nGiúdach nach éisteann le guth Dé ag labhairt trí Íosa, an Spiorad agus na hAspail san eaglais. Is gean le Lúcás dul ar agaidh na hEaglaise i líon a ríomhadh. Tosaíonn a stair an lá sin Cincíse le tuairim ar thrí mhíle duine. Beidh méadú mór uirthi i measc na nGintlithe.

Focail: an Bíobal Naofa / Ceol: Peadar Ó Riada


Dara Léacht (1 Peadar 2:20-25). Tá sibh tagaithe ar ais chuig caomhnóir bhur n-anama. Is fiú an sliocht seo a mheas i dtosach báire ina chomhthéasc sa  litir féin, agus ansin é a mheas mar a labhraíonn sé linn inniu. Tá an litir seo dírithe ar chomhluadair scaipthe de  Chríostaíthe a bhí ina mhionlach i sochaí phagánach, sochaí a bhí eagraithe go docht ón Impire féin aníos trí chathracha, bhailte, theaghlaigh agus eile, sochaí inar chuid dílis di an sclábhaíocht. Ní hé gur caitheadh go dona i gcónaí le seirbhísigh agus sclábhaithe, ach rinneadh ar uairibh agus ní raibh leigheas a gcás acu má rinneadh. Tugann an litir roinnt treoracha do chreidmhigh faoi conas iad féin a iompair san sochaí sin: bheith géiliúil don uile fhoras daonna ar son an Tiarna; iad féin a iompair mar dhaoine saora, ach gan an tsaoirse a bheith mar bhrat ar an olc acu; onóir a thabhairt do chách agus grá don bhráithreacht; eagla orthu roimh Dhia agus omós acu don impire. Díreach ina dhiaidh sin, i sliocht an lae inniu, casann Peadar ar cheist na sclábhaithe ar  a dhéantar leatrom go héagorach. Molann sé dóibh a bheith foighdeach, agus Críost céasta a thógaint mar eiseamlár. Ní thabharfadh seo cothram na Féinne dóibh, ach ní dhéanfadh a mhalairt ach oiread sna cúinsí áirithe sin. Seasann an sliocht seo amach ón chúlra staire sin, agus ó aon chúlra eile, agus labhraíonn sé le gach glúin, faoi aithris a dhéanamh ar Chríost céasta in am an ghátair. Chuaidh a theachtaireacht i bhfeidhm go mór ar spioradáltacht ár sinsir: “Nach mó go mór ar fhulaing Críost”.

Soiscéal an Tiarna do réir Naomh Eoin   - Glóire duit a thiarna


Ón soiscéal a léitear inniu tugtar “Domhnach an Aoire Mhaith” ar an Domhnach seo, agus freisean tugtar air go cuí “Lá Domhanda do urnaí do ghairmeacha”.  Sliocht an lae inniu is tús é do aitheasc fada le hÍosa air féin mar an  Fhíor-Aoire. Maidir leis an íomhá tosaigh ann, de réir dealraimh cró caorach atá i gceist, agus balla mór timpeall air, ina choimeádtar na caoirigh thar oíche, le iad a threorú amach chun féaraigh ar  maidin ag aoire, tréadaí, nuair a osclaíonn an doirseoir dó. Leagtar béim ar an gcomhthuiscint idir na caoirigh agus an Fíor-Aoire. Aithníonn siad a ghuth agus leanann siad é. Sin parabal tosaigh an tsleachta. Cuid dílis de thraidisiún an Bhíobla, sa Seantiomna agus an Tiomna Nua, an t-Aoire agus an tréad. Bhí aoirí fónta ann, agus droch-aoirí (ríthe, prionsaí, agus eile), a chuir scaipeadh ar phobal Dé.  Trí fháidh amháin gheall Dia go mbeadh sé féin mar Aoire ar a thréad  chun iad a threorú go hiomláine na beatha. Míníonn Íosa féin brí an pharabail, ina chuireann sé é féin i láthair mar an doras, is é sin le rá an tslí agus an bheatha, an t-aon slí amháin chun an Athar ar neamh, agus chun comaoine leis féin ar talamh. Samhlaíonn Íosa gaol pearsanta idir é féin agus a thréad, a lucht leanúna, a thuigeann an misean atá aige ón Athair agus a leanann é. Tháinig sé le beatha a thabhairt, agus í a thabhairt go fial. De bharr an dlúthchaidrimh idir é féin agus a thréad aithníonn siad a ghuth agus leanann siad é. Déanann Íosa comparáid idir é féin agus daoine eile a dhéanann dochar don tréad, daoine ar a dtugann sé bithiúnaigh agus robálaithe, nach dtagann isteach tríd féin, an doras. Tagann siad sin chun a bheith ag goid, ag marú agus ag milleadh, murab ionann agus Íosa a tháinig chun go mbeadh an bheatha ag a thréad. An gaol pearsanta idir Íosa, an tAoire Fónta, agus a thréad a ligeann dá lucht leanúna gan éisteacht leis droch-aoirí. Céaduair bhí an parabal seo dírithe ar cheannairí Giúdacha (Fairisínigh) nár lig dá mhuintir guth Dé san Soiscéal a aithint agus Íosa, an tAoire Maith, a leanúint. Tugann bua an chreidimh agus lonradh an Spioraid Naoimh dá thréad Íosa a aithint mar an t-aon doras, and t-aon slí, chun an Athar and chun na beatha.

On the day of Pentecost Peter stood up with the Eleven and addressed the crowd in a loud voice: ‘The whole House of Israel can be certain that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.’


  Hearing this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the apostles, ‘What must we do, brothers?’ ‘You must repent,’ Peter answered ‘and every one of you must be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise that was made is for you and your children, and for all those who are far away, for all those whom the Lord our God will call to himself.’ He spoke to them for a long time using many arguments, and he urged them, ‘Save yourselves from this perverse generation.’ They were convinced by his arguments, and they accepted what he said and were baptised. That very day about three thousand were added to their number.

1 Peter 2:20-25 ©



The merit, in the sight of God, is in bearing punishment patiently when you are punished after doing your duty.


  This, in fact, is what you were called to do, because Christ suffered for you and left an example for you to follow the way he took. He had not done anything wrong, and there had been no perjury in his mouth. He was insulted and did not retaliate with insults; when he was tortured he made no threats but he put his trust in the righteous judge. He was bearing our faults in his own body on the cross, so that we might die to our faults and live for holiness; through his wounds you have been healed. You had gone astray like sheep but now you have come back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

Jesus said:


  ‘I tell you most solemnly, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but gets in some other way is a thief and a brigand. The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock; the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out. When he has brought out his flock, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow because they know his voice. They never follow a stranger but run away from him: they do not recognise the voice of strangers.’


  Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he meant by telling it to them.


  So Jesus spoke to them again:


‘I tell you most solemnly,


I am the gate of the sheepfold.


All others who have come


are thieves and brigands;


but the sheep took no notice of them.


I am the gate.


Anyone who enters through me will be safe:


he will go freely in and out


and be sure of finding pasture.


The thief comes


only to steal and kill and destroy.


I have come


so that they may have life and have it to the full.’
